African Trip
Fred did a very good job of organizing our trip. Our first guide was Christian who was Awesome. We started with Golden Monkey Trek which was a easy hike and very enjoyable. Next day went on Gorilla Trek which was wonderful. Such beautiful creatures. Exhausting hike but well worth it. The Hot Air Balloon ride in Rwanda (Akagera National Park) was awesome. We then proceeded to Kenya where multiple Safari's and Animals seen( All of the Big 5 plus Rhino's). Family Akagera Safari
My family just finished a 3 day Akagera safari with Germain as our guide and he was incredible! I would highly recommend not only One More Adventures but specifically Germain. I have been on several safaris in Rwanda, Uganda & Kenya and can say that Germain is not only extremely knowledgeable but also always thinking ahead on logistics to ensure a smooth trip. He would call ahead with meal orders to ensure food was already ready whenever we arrived at a new location, park his vehicle in prime spots to ensure quick departures etc. He also went above and beyond when my 11yr old daughter left an item at our hotel in Akagera. A trip of a lifetime!
This is a review for our wonderful guide Amos. It is difficult to adequately express our gratitude for all that you have given us over the past ten days in Rwanda and Uganda. Thankyou for sharing your beautiful country and its people with us. It has been an absolute privilege and an experience that we will never forget. As a guide, you have demonstrated an exceptional attention to detail and your superb knowledge of the wildlife and the environment made each day especially meaningful. You have shown that you have genuinely cared about giving us the most unique and memorable experience possible. We did gorilla treks in both Rwanda and Uganda. We saw lions and leopards so close we could almost hug them in Queen Elizabeth National Park. We know that we were so lucky to have met you. Surely there is no better guide in all of Africa! Rwanda should be on everyone's list of places to go!
What an incredibly rich, immersive experience of Rwanda organized and supported by One More Adventures. From the moment we were collected at the airport finding thoughtful gift bags on our vehicle seats, to organizing the trekking and tours, to adding to our itinerary when flights were changed, to ensuring coffee and bathroom breaks while we travelled, to fixing any problems as they arose....nothing is too big or small for this company. Super approachable, easy to chat to ensure your best experience. There are no hidden costs - all tours and museum entrance fees are included making it easy to budget. Awesome gorilla trek in Rwanda
Fred of One More Adventure Safaris was recommended to us by friends of friends who raved about his services. From the first WhatsApp message, Fred was responsive, enthusiastic and helpful. He provides a full range of services so we didn't have to deal with anyone except Fred. He gave us a range of options for hotels. He booked the hotels, bought our trekking permits, and sent me a write up on planning a gorilla trek with all the required info. He was flexible when we wanted to add 2 more to our group of 5 travelers, and added an extra car and driver so that we would not be cramped in one vehicle. When the airline changed our flights and we had to add an extra day to our itinerary, he was ready with suggestions on what to do. As our trip approached, Fred efficiently dealt with my last minute questions on WhatsApp. We arrived at Kigali around 8am. Fred, along with Fabrice and Christian, the two guides employed to look after us for the duration of our trip, met us at the airport and took us out for breakfast (unplanned but when Fred heard we hadn't eaten on the flight he readily adjusted our itinerary), followed by a visit to Question Coffee (one of our group is in the coffee business so we requested this stop). Fred owns both vehicles which are comfortable and well cared for. Fred stayed in Kigali when we drove up to Volcanoes National Park. Bottled water and snacks were provided for the trip. The two trekking days were flawless. Fred joined us for the last two days of our trip. On our final extra day, he booked a visit to a coffee plantation en route to our overnight stay at Lake Kivu. Every detail of the five days was taken care of. Arrangements were clearly communicated, the guides were knowledgeable about their country and answered all our questions. If we had started off with a 5 day trip, we might have structured it slightly differently, but we were all extremely happy with the execution of the planned itinerary and especially so with Fred and his team. Exceptional!
Fred was fantastic to work with in organising our trip through Rwanda and Tanzania. He listened to what we wanted to do and provided Great advice, options and ideas. He patiently worked with me over several weeks to build a customised itinerary. Everything worked like clock work, and even when while we were on the ground, Fred worked behind the scenes to organise us some unexpected upgrades. Yes, I was nervous sending large amounts of money to a bank account in Uganda … never really knowing if someone would be there to meet us at Kigali airport… but I had no need for concern… Fred delivered everything as promised and more. I can’t really add anything further to what has already been said about the two countries… just incredible … (and this review is more about ‘One more adventure’)… but it would be remiss of me not make special mention of our incredible guide Ally in Tanzania. We felt very safe and comfortable with Ally, and he was the guide all the other guides listened to for advice. 10/10 Experience with Christian Seeing the Gorillas
We absolutely loved our experience with Christian. He took incredible care of us over 3 days. He picked us up from the airport late at night, took us to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and then drove us to and from gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. We felt safe, entertained, and educated every step of the way. Christian was an expert at navigating Kigali and the dirt roads around Volcanoes National Park. He made sure we were on time and properly checked in for the gorilla trekking, and was flexible in taking us to the airport at a later time when our outbound flight was delayed. Gorilla trekking is an unreal experience. Depending on the family you are assigned, the time it takes to drive to your family’s nearest park entrance and the time it takes to hike will vary. We drove for about 2 hours and hiked for about 1 hour. Since it had rained recently, the hike was muddy and gaiters were definitely needed (your lodge may have some to rent). The hike was through thick forest and your specific park guide will have a machete to cut a path. Once you get close to the gorillas, you will come upon a few trackers - people whose full time job is tracking the location of the family. At that point you leave all of your stuff with them, take only your camera, put on a mask provided by the park guide, and hike 5 more minutes to the family. And then you will see gorillas within 5 feet of you. The family we saw had 2 dominant males, 3 females with babies, and 2 juvenile gorillas. The juvenile gorillas were really active, but all the other gorillas just went about their day eating bamboo and grass. The big male even took a nap. They are completely unbothered by you, and the guides do an excellent job instructing you when to move away from the gorillas. It’s remarkable to see them up close, to see how big they are, and to see them in their natural habitat. We couldn’t imagine this experience without Christian and we are so beyond grateful!
